Ride with me - Japan - Yoichi to Ebisu Rock & Daikoku Rock (えびす岩と大黒岩)

I had one big goal this trip and that was to go and see a famous rock and tori gate on the beach. So starting in Yoichi I cycled to Ebisu Rock & Daikoku Rock (えびす岩と大黒岩) but there was so much more to explore! We’ll see vineyards along the roads, Yoichi Shrine, Yoichi port, a coffee shop with the most ridiculously seaside view   / wildernesscoffeeroasters   , an old trading post and another, hidden, shrine and more! I tried my best to get rid of the wind noise while still making it sound like you ride the bike with me. And you actually hear me scream because I could not contain myself! One of the biggest hurdles on these hour(s) long rides and walks is keeping my mouth shut. Another reminder if you venture outside of Hokkaido’s cities: BRING A BELL! I’ve said it in a previous video but bears are a common sight and danger. Bells scare them away in most cases, they cost $1 and are sold at most places like 7/11, Family Mart, etc. You can see some of the warning signs as I approach the beach. This trip of summer 2025 was not planned like this. I never intended to go to Japan in summer at all (I did plan for autumn or winter) but what pushed me to do it was burning out and subsequently being made redundant at work. I was in a very low place, rooted up my life, moved back to a friend’s place in another country to have a physical social network (something I did not have for a while) and did the one thing that makes me feel whole: Travel. At first I did not even want to film anything, the stress and worry about clicks and views was too much and my mental battery was running low still. But on my way from Sapporo airport to the hostel I did pick up a camera and decided to film but not release everything at once on the same day which was very soothing and way less stressful than turning around videos in the same week I filmed them. I’m still working on finding my own speed, my own style of things many years into doing this. Thank you for being with me through all of this. I have no concrete plans for 2026 yet but want to bring you along to places you may not be able to go.
