Samuel Bean Noyes, a frail high school student from New Hampshire, was not considered combat material when he joined the Granite State's 12th Infantry. But he proved a tough little soldier, suffering a wound at Gettysburg and another in the West while in command of Confederate soldiers who swore allegiance to the Constitution and joined the U.S. Army—so-called "Galvanized Yankees." Here's the story. "Life on the Civil War Research Trail" is hosted by Ronald S. Coddington, Editor and Publisher of Military Images magazine.
