Plastics recycling is a complex process, especially if food contact is required. What are stages in the recycling process, and how can products made of plastic be reused? In this video, you will learn how products such as PET bottles are recycled and how innovative recycling solution make our world more sustainable. The greatest challenge is to clean and decontaminate the used products to reuse it. Water, sand, steel, paper or sugar are examples of contaminants, which have to be eliminated. The solution is washing, decontamination and filtration! For an efficient and effective washing process, a constant feedstock and as little cross contamination with foreign polymers as possible is needed. However, flakes will never be 100 percent clean. Smaller metal particles, glue, oils or other volatile contaminants can be always found in the input material. You will learn which methods and machines for decontamination and polymer filtration are usually deployed and how Gneuss uses its super clean technology for an extremely efficient decontamination and thereby reaches optimal polymer properties and melt qualities.
