The City of North Richland Hills celebrated the new TEXRail service with a ribbon cutting on December 31, 2018. TEXRail is a new 27-mile commuter rail line that extends from downtown Fort Worth, across northeast Tarrant County, through North Richland Hills, and Grapevine, and into DFW International Airport's Terminal B. Service is scheduled to begin in January 2019 and rides will be free through January 31, 2019. There are 2 stations in North Richland Hills, one off Smithfield Road, just north of Mid-Cities Boulevard, and the other off Iron Horse Boulevard just north of Loop 820.
