While the original Scorpion was a great little board it did lack some "bottom end" performance in smaller and weaker waves due to the very narrow pintail. This Scorpion II is a more "rounded out" version with a much wider tail and a slightly narrower nose. Donald redesigned the original for his friends on the South Shore of Oahu who aren't blessed with the same power and punchy surf of the North Shore. Great little board for So Cal and anywhere where weaker waves are the norm. The wider tail allows the rider to go shorter should they wish and the Quad + single offers the option for either single fin, 2+1 or quad fin setups! Donald Takayama worked alongside Surftech/TufLite for some 20 years before he died in 2012. This close relationship was built on trust, respect and a commitment to deliver a quality product which remained faithful to Donald's original designs.
