Our Founder Dustin Young explains the importance showing up for black mothers to reduced the maternal mortality rates in our communities. Black Women are 4X more likely to experience pregnancy related death than white women. Historically, men have always been apart of the process but they’ve lost their way over time. Dustin’s goal is to continue to dismantle the stigma over male involvement in the birthing process. Our Own is using its resources to support training and certification of Doulas throughout Los Angeles. Seed & Soil…our Agritech and Nutrition program has been incorporated with @kindredspacela to provide fresh produce and meals to expecting mothers.
