We're in Cusco and hiking our way towards Machu Picchu, the gem of Peru travel. We're doing a portion of the Lares Trek, which is typically done over 3-5 days, wrapping up with the final day at Machu Picchu. The Lares Trek passes through Andean communities which have remained unchanged over centuries, you don’t just get to hike part of the Inca Trail system, you actually get to meet the descendants of those people who built the Inca Trails and Machu Picchu. Rivers, lakes, waterfalls, snowwy peaks, this hike had it all! The campsite we slept at was built by G Adventures, as part of staying there they pay a fee per person to support the locals and help the community thrive. These areas are so unbelievably remote, it's amazing to see a community of people, chefs, guides, porters and families thriving! These South America travels were filmed in October 2023, an amazing time of year to visit. We spent a month exploring Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile and these travel vlogs are to share our experience of the first time touching the continent... safe to say we loved it!
