TASSI is the spiritual vessel of Chinese artist Dryad, also known for his work under 虚极 Bliss-Illusion. With TASSI, he brings to life a bard wandering between heaven and man — a mystical figure whose esoteric journey is driven by the eternal search for his lost love, Uni: the incarnation of absolute love and unwavering faith. This new album, Idamon Novasah-Liva, opens a more introspective and melancholic chapter in what Dryad calls The Chronicle of Strange Thoughts — a parallel saga to the Northland series. Here, TASSI reveals his emotional double, a self suspended between devotion, despair, and transcendence. Musically rooted in depressive black metal, blackgaze, and post-black metal, the album blends meditative riffs, ethereal atmospheres, and lyrics that speak to the soul. The voice drifts between lament and prayer, echoing through soundscapes both sorrowful and sublime. All Western visuals, including the artwork for this release, are created by Alcide Nathanaël — a visual artist whose mystical, symbolic language offers a unique and spiritual counterpoint to TASSI’s sound, far removed from traditional metal aesthetics.
