Trail to Sunset Valley - Intro: I Miss You, Miss America | Muir & Roberts 1916 | Piano roll story

A special player piano roll video, commemorating the death of Lewis F. Muir today 108 years ago on December 3, 1915. In this video, I explained the story of how I identied an unknown piano roll, it turns out to be Lewis F. Muir's last composition. Lewis Frederick Muir (Louis Meuer) passed away peacefully at his home in New York on December 3, 1915 due to Pneumonia, aged 32 years of age. A well known composer of popular songs such as "Waiting for the Robert E. Lee", "Hitchy Koo", "Camp Meeting Band", "Take Me to that Swanee Shore", "Play That Barber Shop Chord". "Trail to Sunset Valley" is believed to be Muir's last composition, strangely enough, the copyright date is August 14, 1916, 8 months after Muir's death, perhaps it was Gilbert who has the music and published it. "I Miss You, Miss America" is copyrighted on July 29, 1916, by Lee S. Roberts (vice president of QRS piano roll company), of which Gilbert also wrote the lyrics. The "Trail To Sunset Valley, Introducing: I Miss You, Miss America", Medley One-Step, was and orchestration arranged by M. David, copyrighted September 8, 1916. Starting off with the "Sunset Valley", originally a ballad, but rearranged to a One-Step, verse and chorus, then incorporating "Miss America" chorus, then finally ending with "Sunset Valley" chorus. A very fun an upbeat arrangement, notably with the arrangement of Flute/Piccolo part in the upper treble. I might make an orchestration based off this piano roll.
