If ever a man were born to be a chuckwagon driver, it would be Hughie Sinclair. Hughie attended his first Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby in 1968 at the age of 2 when his father Tom drove there. Hughie grew up on the chuckwagon circuit as his father was a tough competitor on the old CPA circuit during the 1970's. In 1982 Hughie began his outriding career winning the WPCA Top Rookie Outrider Award that year. In 1986 Hughie won the Rod Glass Memorial Award for the Most Improved Outrider. Hugh also won a Calgary Stampede Aggregate Champion Outrider award in 1988 and 2 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion Outrider Awards in 1988 and 1990 when he rode for the winning Dave Lewis outfits. Hughie is known around the circuit for his mild mannerism, good sportsmanship, and the care and love he gives his championship thoroughbreds. At the ripe old age of 41, there will definitely be many more championships won, and record breaking runs around the track.
