Video transcript: I'm Dr. Kenneth Brown a board-certified gastroenterologist in Plano Texas if you're looking at this page you may have had one of the more alarming things that can actually happen you're seeing some blood after a bowel movement or blood in the toilet. First I want to reassure you that in most cases it is a completely benign thing that we can actually fix that being said even a little bit of blood can look pretty dramatic if you have a bowel movement and you can see how the blood really disperses through the water there it looks really really dramatic when you see something like this. I do want to make sure that we cover all five main causes: Hemorrhoids, anal fissure, colitis, polyps and least likely but something that we always have to keep in mind is cancer so if you've had any blood at all in the toilet it is really important to get this checked out by a board-certified gastroenterologist. I encourage you to look at the rest of the information on this page that discusses the different causes and symptoms of the bleeding as well click on the link below to schedule your appointment or go ahead and call the office thank you.
