I know I've made it clear on more than one occasion that my first love is classic cross-country skiing. But, I do acknowledge that skate skiing is super fun. In fact, I spent a lot of time last winter (2019/20) working on my skate skiing technique (emphasis on V2 Alternate). So, even though I'm not of World Cup caliber, I'm no stranger to it. But when I was told yesterday that my first lesson of the day (and actually of the 2020/21 season) was a beginner skate lesson, I had a minor panic attack. Fortunately, I had the opportunity well before my lesson to go out for some "early bird" xc skiing and become reacquainted with this beautiful style of skiing. I had so much fun during that early morning ski session and the lesson itself, that I decided after work I'd go for a longer skate ski loop (approximately seven miles) around the Euer Valley with my friend and co-working, Pixie. She was classic skiing and I was skate skiing, which can be challenging to coordinate (since skate skiing is generally faster). But her classic technique is great and I spent a lot of time filming. So, I ended up playing catch-up the whole time anyway! But she likes to take photos nearly as much as I do, so we made it work. In other words, it's hard not to stop and admire the stunning winter landscape after a recent snowfall. In this video, I was skating on Salomon RS skate skis (w/Prolink Bindings) and wearing Fischer RCS skate boots. • / jaredmanninen (monthly contributions of $3, $6, $9, $39, or $99) • https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/Jared...
