Planting 100 Churches in Uruguay: Interview with Missionary Steve McCarthy

Hope for Uruguay is an initiative to bring Hope to communities throughout Uruguay by establishing and planting 100 new churches. Most churches in Uruguay start in homes and are unable to adequately fit a congregation. However, when a permanent structure is built, people will have the opportunity to go to church every day, worship God, and host outreaches for the community. Additionally, each church that will be constructed is worth so much more than just a stack of bricks. The people and the impact that takes place in their lives, in turn, gives value to the buildings. According to Missionary Steve McCarthy, in the first few months when a new church is built, the church congregation grows around 50%. Hope for Uruguay is a strategic initiative that will plant churches in the least reached communities throughout Uruguay. Where many have labeled Uruguay as the graveyard of Latin American Missions, the McCarthy’s believe that Jesus is desiring to pour out His love. So, how can people like you come alongside and help Missionaries Steve and Jill?
