Ah Hoe Mee Pok - 501 W Coast Dr, Food Loft Coffee Shop, Singapore 120501 01 Jan 2022 The legendary AH HOE MEE POK. Heard so much about them but first time trying it. I had to queue for half an hour. I had Mee Pok while my wife had Mee Kia (thin noodles), The Mee Pok was great and the soap is probably the best, full of umami. Most time when you have dry Mee Pok anywhere else the soup is just a side kick, almost a non-event, but their soup can be likened to the leading actor. It's so good, you'd want to finish every drop in the bowl. Their style is without any fish cake, just minced pork, sliced pork and Fish Dumplings (Her Giao). I tasted the Mee Kia but I find the taste and texture a bit lacking. The Mee Kia is actually not round strips as we know them. It is flat and thin. I suspect it is made by the Mee Pok manufacturer, slicing Mee Pok in to thinner strips. Their prices are $6, $8 $10. I personally consider anything above $4 for Fish Ball Noodle or Minced Meat Mee Pok to be on the high side. Having said that if the taste is extraordinary then I still can accept the higher price.
