The Dr. Meter Wood Moisture Reader was straight forward to use - just push it into whatever you're checking and press the power button. It has a hold button too which is great if you can't see the display because of an awkward angle. The Oregon Universal Chainsaw Field Sharpening Kit was also very easy to use however there some things that you need to know ahead of time in order to make it work efficiently: 1) Make sure your chainsaw is being supported and held in place so that it's not moving around while sharpening. 2) Make sure your chain is tensioned properly (otherwise it will flop around and you won't get a good sharpening movement). 3) Only sharpen in forward movements (don't drag the file back and forth - only forth). My first attempt using this Oregon Universal Chainsaw Field Sharpening Kit was not a good one but I tried it the next day and got amazing results.
