The story begins when Jake is released from prison and learns that the Catholic orphanage where they were raised is facing foreclosure. Determined to save it, the brothers decide to reunite their old rhythm and blues band to raise the needed money — “on a mission from God.” Their quest to get the band back together leads to chaos across Chicago as they encounter vengeful law enforcement, rival musicians, and a host of wild characters. The film combines slapstick comedy, high-speed car chases, and spectacular musical performances. Along the way, Jake and Elwood perform alongside real-life music legends including Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown, and Cab Calloway. The story balances absurd humor with genuine love for blues and soul music, as the brothers dodge police, Nazis, and angry country singers while trying to reach their charity concert in time. The Blues Brothers became a cult classic, celebrated for its energetic performances, iconic soundtrack, and record-breaking car crashes.
