Come ferment with me. In this video, I'll be showing you how to make fermented onions from start to finish. Fermented foods are good for the gut health and are filled with an abundance of probiotics .For this recipe, you will need onions, a jar, sea salt, water and glass weight. Ingredients 5 small- medium sized onions (white or red) 1 tsp whole coriander seeds (optional) 1 tbsp of sea salt 2 cups of water(400 ml) 1 liter mason Jar **glass weight (to weigh down the onions and keep them fully submerged in water) Step by step guide 1. Peel and slice your onions. 2. Make your brine by adding sea salt to water. 3. While the salt is dissolving in water, transfer your onions into the mason jar. Do not fill it to the brim, leave at least 1 inch gap. 4. Add coriander seeds to mason Jar 5. Pour brine into the mason jar until onions are submerged 6. Put in glass weight so as to ensure onions are fully submerged in salt water. 7. Put the lid on the jar and store at room temperature in a cabinet or counter top 8. After 10 -14 days the onions will be fully fermented and ready to eat 9. Put fermented onions to your refrigerator and enjoy.
