The C&WM is a small On30 railroad with a standard-gauge interchange. In this installment, I'll frame up most of the benchwork. Lots of people ask me about my benchwork choices. I always cut benchwork farming from 3/4" Baltic birch plywood. Solid lumber will not stay straight. If you can't find baltic birch, use the best cabinet-grade plywood you can find. Do not skimp on benchwork. It is the foundation of the model railroad and the one part that cannot be upgraded later if it isn't good enough. Precision, stable benchwork is the difference between a railroad and a failroad.
