Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS) and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital have inaugurated a state-of-the-art Medical Simulation Center a first-of-its-kind facility in a central government hospital, aimed at transforming medical training in India. The new lab houses 52 manikins that can mimic real patients from 7 key medical and surgical specialities—Anaesthesiology, Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, General Surgery, ENT and Ophthalmology. These manikins let students and doctors practice important skills — like giving injections, delivering babies, performing surgeries, and handling emergencies — without any risk to real patients. The facility also has special trainers for life-saving techniques, surgical skills, and team-based emergency drills. This kind of safe practice builds confidence, improves teamwork, and reduces the chances of errors in real hospitals. Patients will benefit directly because when doctors train in a simulation lab first, they are more skilled, faster in emergencies, and better prepared to give safe and effective treatment.
