Nepal's army has assumed responsibility for security after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday, following significant protests in Kathmandu and other regions of the country. The army also took control of the main government secretariat building, Singhdurbar, and Tribhuvan International Airport. Flights to and from Nepal have been cancelled due to the current situation. The army prevented groups attempting to damage the gate of the Pashupatinath temple and noted that some organizations were responding to the situation. Protesters set fire to the homes of former Prime Minister Oli and President Ram Chandra Poudel. Former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal’s wife, Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar, died from burn injuries after their house was set on fire. Government buildings, including Nepal’s parliament and the Supreme Court, were also damaged by fire.
