Welcome back to Happy’s History Reactions! In this video, I’m reacting to Miniwars #2: The Football War by Oversimplified. On the surface, the “Football War” (also called the 100 Hour War) might sound like a joke—but it was a very real conflict between El Salvador and Honduras in 1969. What started with World Cup qualifying matches escalated into riots, refugee crises, air raids, and thousands of casualties in one of the shortest wars in modern history. In this reaction, I provide extra commentary and context on: The role of the banana companies and “banana republics” in Central America How migration and land disputes fueled the tension long before the matches Why the Football War is a perfect example of how small sparks can ignite major conflicts Oversimplified does a fantastic job turning this strange but tragic chapter of history into an accessible story. If you haven’t already done so, please consider checking out the original video (link below) and showing support for the creator. We want Oversimplified to know we love their work! If you enjoy history with context and commentary, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe. More reaction videos to Oversimplified and other history content are coming soon! In fact, I'm contemplating a video on the Banana Republics as the natural follow-up to this one... Original Video: • Football War - MiniWars #2
