The duodenum is divided into four parts: the superior, descending, horizontal, and ascending parts. The superior part is the duodenal bulb, which is the most mobile and prone to ulcers. The descending part houses the major duodenal papilla, where the bile duct and pancreatic duct empty their contents, crucial for digestion. The horizontal part crosses the aorta and the inferior vena cava, while the ascending part transitions into the jejunum. 🦠 The duodenum's walls are composed of four layers: mucosa, submucosa, muscularis, and serosa, each playing a distinct role in its function.
