PERU DAY 4 - Lares Trek to Machu Picchu Day 1

Today we begin our day bright and early in Calca which is the last town we pass before we begin our hike to Machu Picchu . Sunday is one of the busiest days at this market as village people (those that live in the mountains) cross the mountain path for up to 2 hours to this city to get their fresh produce and bring back home. We pick up any required necessities, food, treats, coca leaves, and toys for kids. We take a dip in the Hot Spring in the town of Lares which is the base of where our 4-day journey starts. We enjoy our first lunch made by our wonderful porters, who are able to whip up any type of food on-the-go, without a stove or oven! Follow us on this exciting adventure as we ascend up into the cold, foggy mountains to the small village of Huaca Wasi where Spanish is many a foreign and the native tongue of Quechua is spoken. The kids and babies here are so excited to see tourists as this is the path least taken. Huaca Wasi is our home for the night, our tents are pitched, we layer up and have an early rest (lights out at 9pm!
