Further information: http://vacohandflex.com Preparation: Prepare spring balancers To open the spring adapter: raise the cushion at the valve, put the key in the opening and push until you hear an audible click. To remove the spring adapter: slide in the direction indicated by arrow. Inserting the spring balancer. Positioning spring balancers Tip: Guide the cable beneath the closure straps. Thumb care: Insert the spring balancer into the opening in the direction of the thumb. Making the vacuum cushion soft Pull valve ring upwards and manouvere it so as to allow air to enter. Application Procedure: Wrap terry liner around arm. Apply nail pads. Correct hand positioning. The hinge of the orthosis must be positioned to match that of the wrist. Angle of metacarpophalangeal joint must match that of the finger catch. If necessary, adjust the position of the finger catch. Fastening straps Close straps in indicated order. Readjust the tensile direction of strap (thumb should be freely movable). Note: If necesssary, remove Velcro caps and shorten straps. Making the vacuum cushion rigid Press the valve ring down and draw air out of the cushion the pump until hard. Attaching spring balancers Attach the fleece to the nail pad. For thumb care: Hook the spring balancer into the hole of the hand belt diagonally. Tip: Adjust the tensile strength +/- until the finger joints are bent. Adjustment Note: If necessary, the finger catch may be cut or bent for a more appropriate fit. The finger catch can be individually adjusted.
