Today I am going to take a look at a few very interesting pianos, from the traditional to one recorded directly in the hot zone of Chernobyl. STRIX INSTRUMENTS PRIPYAT PIANO Imagine walking into a nuclear fallout zone for the sake of sampling a piano, the team from Strix Instruments did just that. The Chernobyl disaster left the world in shock as the main reactors melted down releasing huge amounts of radioactive material in the atmosphere and desolating the town of Pripyat which was closest to the reactor. The now ghost town is a shell of the vibrant community it once was leaving behind the echoes. The Pripyat piano library for Kontakt (Full Version Required) allows us to venture into the very spaces that were left behind. The instrument is built from over 20 instruments that were sampled over 7 years and 25 trips into this highly radioactive area.
