#steam #train #unique My journey out to Cass, WV for the 2023 Parade Of Steam was once again a solo effort. It might have something to do with FFV Junior's reluctance to respond to a 3 AM wakeup call, but I'm not entirely sure. In the days leading up to the event, rumors swirled that Western Maryland Shay 6 (aka 'Big Six') or Heisler 6 might be joining the party, but sadly neither one could make it. Even so, Climax 9 and Shays 2, 4, 5, and 11 put on another fine show, and for a record-breaking crowd no less - with the Cass Days festival also taking place in the parking lot, this year's audience approached 4,000 people. As always, kudos to all the folks at the Cass Scenic Railroad for hosting such a great event! As in years past, the parade wrapped up with all 5 locomotives making several passes as a single lashup, with the final pass featuring all 5 whistles being blown at once.
