https://decision-for-liver.eu/ In this #masterclass, learn how to navigate data repositories, access datasets responsibly, and make the most of bioinformatics resources. The session covers the history of databases, an overview of repositories used in the DECISION project, and provides a hands-on recipe on how to make the best use out of different types of data. Key Takeaways: ▪️ Bioinformatics and the use of databases have evolved since 1965, from simple nucleotide databases in the 1980s to Genomic Era databases in the 1990s, high-throughput technologies in the 2000s, and next-generation sequencing and big data in the 2010s. Today, resources like AlphaFold DB continue to expand the field. ▪️ DECISION’s data is FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). Researchers can apply through EF CLIF to access our datasets. ▪️ Making the most of your data requires preparation: define your research question, have the necessary tools, gather all relevant clinical and omics data, ensure you have the expertise to process it, and allow time for analysis. Speakers: Dr. David Gómez-Cabrero – Associate Professor, KAUST Cristina Sánchez Garrido – Head of Data Management Center, EF CLIF Ferrán Aguilar – Biostatistician, EF CLIF This session complements our previous DECISION masterclass on clinical bioinformatics. This consortium will take advantage of already existing large and clinically well-characterized cohorts to ultimately develop prognostic and response tests and combinatorial therapies tailored to the needs of individual patients to decrease the risk of short-term death.
