A hydroelectric plant inside a mountain? We show you Snowy 2.0, in Australia – Geopop/Webuild

Ever heard of Snowy 2.0? In this Geopop video we discover the massive pumped-hydro project being built in Australia. It will expand a network of dams and power plants called the “Snowy Scheme”, which was built between 1949 and 1974. Snowy 2.0 will increase this Scheme’s generation capacity from 4.1 to 6.3 Gigawatts. That’s more than the 5.5 GW produced by two of the biggest coal-powered thermal power plants set to be shut down in the coming decade in the state of the New South Wales. A journey, with the support of 3D animations, to discover the construction phases of a complex engineering work, which will provide energy for around half a million homes at the same time.
