When the system fails you, what do you do? I believe many of us are experiencing system failures in a variety of areas of life these days so we can relate. This week my incredibly brave and strong guests stood up when the justice system failed a young woman who was violently sexually assaulted in Kansas. In this episode you will hear from Hilary Klotz Steinman, the director of the powerful documentary "Loud Enough, Surviving Justice" that tells the story of my other fabulous guests: Madi Smith and her mother Mandy Smith. What began as a romantic encounter between two people who knew one another turned into a violent sexual assault. When the justice system failed Madi, she--along with the support of her parents and a few other advocates--fought to get her power and peace back. Be sure to tune in next week when director Hilary returns with two other guests who also played key roles in this case and in the documentary. In next week's episode, we explore the involvement of law enforcement, their treatment of women who have survived sexual assault and what needs to change.
