Chapter 59 – Luang Prabang to Hanoi Today was defiantly my last day in Laung Prabang as I had my Visa and a plane ticket in hand. I was ready to go with the resort’s driver to the airport for my flight to Hanoi and checked in with Vietnam Airlines. The Laung Prabang international airport has a distinctive architectural style with Spacious waiting areas, convenience stores and large runway facing windows so one can do some plane spotting. There were a couple of Lao Airlines ATR 75 turboprop planes and an Air Asia A320 parked on the ramp. I Boarded Vietnam Airlines VN93, A321 service from LPQ to HAN, checked the safety card, and strapped in for take-off. As we approached Hanoi, the pilot announced that traffic was backed up due to a severe storm. I went through Immigration and they stamped my passport without asking for my visa. I met the driver my Travel agent had arranged outside the terminal. I checked into my hotel, Golden Legend Boutique Hotel, then walked a couple of blocks to the “Crossing Vietnam” travel agency (https://www.crossingvietnamtour.com/) to meet my travel agent, Ms. Emily. She informed me that all tours for the next couple of days were cancelled due to an impending Typhoon expected to strike Hanoi later that evening. I found a place to eat a late supper, and after a quick stop at the neighborhood Circle-K for drinks and snacks, I retired to my room to hunker down and await the typhoon.
