L. C. King was born in 1943 in Madison County, North Carolina. He learned to dance from his father, and he describes his smooth, rhythmic dance style as “old-time flatfoot dancing” with “a little bit of tap” mixed in. L. C. was working in a furniture store in Candler at the time of this project, so that is where he another dancer, Earl McElreath, were filmed.
