Director/producer Samad Davis is riding a wave of success. His most recent film "Love by Chance" is receiving critical acclaim. The film premiered in July 2017 at the American Black Film Festival. It was shot in Atlanta and has an interesting international storyline. The plot involves two aspiring actors from South Africa who meet by chance in Hollywood. Davis is no stranger to the movie business. Two decades ago, the former Newark, New Jersey, restaurant owner/entrepreneur went to film school on a whim and has never looked back. His first feature film "Durdy Game" came out in 2002. Fox Searchlight wanted to buy the film and remake it with big stars, but Davis said he turned down the offer because he had a DVD deal for the movie. He said that was the right decision because after the DVD came out, he ended up meeting several famous people in the industry. Since "Durdy Game," Davis has worked with heavy hitters Danny Glover and Nia Long, who appear in his movie "Mooz Lum." Davis has also become good friends with Hollywood movers and shakers like Will Packer, who produced the movie "Girl's Trip." Since he now travels often to Africa for business, he produces music videos and TV shows there, too. The winner of Season 1's "Top Actor in Africa" became the lead in "Love by Chance." After several career changes, Davis has found his passion.
