Lauren was 37 weeks along in her pregnancy when she experienced a life threatening medical emergency. During a routine doctors’ appointment, her unborn baby’s heart rate dropped dangerously low. In a matter of minutes, Lauren was rapidly rushed to the operating room at Ascension Saint Agnes so that her daughter could be delivered ... and saved. Thanks to the phenomenal care provided in the hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, little Gigi gained strength and began to thrive. In tandem, Lauren’s recovery was a priority and she also received outstanding care from a team of doctors and nurses who treated her like she was part of their family. Here, Lauren and her husband Michael reflect on their experience at Ascension Saint Agnes with emotion, love, and gratitude. They are sharing their story as a way of giving back.
