This is quick video how much the MXR M152 Flanger boosts the guitar signal compared to the MXR M117R, then the RATE/SPEED and REGEN controls are compared at their extreme settings. I wish manufacturers would add an internal trim pot that would allow the user to set (or remove) the amount of gain that is being added to the output signal by the pedal when the effect is on. It makes it difficult to compare the pedals as the 'hotter' pedal pushes the amp harder changing the tone. I could have put the pedals into separate send and return loops to ensure they were the same volume, but life is too short for the hassle. Again, if only the manufacturer would allow the user to control the amount of boost .... After the first loop, I normalised the level of both pedals post production to make the comparison more about the effect than the volume. The guitar part is being re-amped through both pedals. Each pedal is compared using the same guitar, the same performance and signal path. The pedals are going into the front of a Laney Lionheart L20H head (clean channel) and then into a 2 x 12 Celestion impulse response (G12M Greenback). The guitar is a USA Fender Stratocaster.
