Today, I’m going to show you how to make this adorable A-line baby frock with straps and ruffles. It’s perfect for any occasion and super easy to make. Let’s get started!” Materials Needed: • 1 meter printed cotton fabric (or any soft fabric) • Elastic • Matching thread • Scissors • Sewing machine • Measuring tape • Pins • Fabric chalk Step 1: Measuring and Cutting the Fabric “Start by folding your fabric in half. Measure the chest, waist, and length of the frock. Mark an A-line shape starting from the chest and waist down to the desired length. Make sure to add 1 inch for seam allowance. Also, cut two fabric strips for the straps and a long piece for the ruffle.” Step 2: Creating the Body “Sew the sides of the A-line piece together. This will form the body of the frock. Leave the top edges open for the straps.” Step 3: Adding the Straps “Take the fabric strips and fold them in half lengthwise. Stitch along the edge, then turn them inside out to form neat straps. Attach the straps to the top corners of the front and back pieces of the frock. You can make bows from the excess fabric and attach them for a cute touch.” Step 4: Shirring the Back “For a snug fit, add elastic to the back. Fold the top edge of the back piece to create a casing and stitch it down, leaving a small gap. Insert the elastic and stitch the ends in place.” Step 5: Adding the Ruffle “Take the long fabric piece you cut earlier for the ruffle. Hem one edge, and on the other side, gather it by sewing a loose stitch and pulling the thread to create ruffles. Attach this ruffle to the bottom of the frock.” Step 6: Side Ruching Detail “For that trendy ruched effect, add a string or elastic on one side of the frock. Create a casing, insert the string, and secure both ends to achieve a cute gathered look.” Step 7: Finishing Touches “Finally, hem the neckline and armholes to give the frock a clean finish.
