Electrical engineering has a problem — and most engineers don’t realize it until they enter the workforce. Electrical engineering is a very broad subject. You study power systems, controls, electronics, signals, electromagnetics, and more. But the challenge isn’t difficulty — it’s depth. It's simply too broad to develop true competency across multiple technical domains in four years. As a result, many electrical engineering graduates begin their careers technically trained — but strategically unprepared for how the engineering industry actually works. In this video, I break down three major issues I’m seeing in today’s electrical engineering career landscape from a hiring manager’s perspective.
