In the early morning of Wednesday 10th July 2024, the Helena Street Level Crossing closes permanently, making way for the new Midland Station on the other side of the crossing. A new crossing will open at Cale Street on Friday 12th to replace the removed crossing. In this video we pay a visit to the Helena Street Crossing on the last evening of operation, taking a look at a few freight trains which come through, as well as the last passenger service through the active crossing, the evening AvonLink, at 5:50PM. As a result of the crossing closure, Transperth bus routes 291 and 301 have also been rerouted, with 301 more than doubling on its previously very short length and new intermediate stops added.
