You can learn how to Crochet a Shells and Post Stitch pattern in this tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. I love this stitch pattern for a blanket, scarf, shawl, and handbag. This quick and easy stitch pattern consists of shells and front and back post stitches. The key to mastering this shell stitch pattern is to remember what side is the “front.” And that is easily accomplished by marking it with a safety pin, paper clip, stitch marker, or just a scrap piece of yarn. The front and back post stitches will alternate so that they all appear on the same side. The back of this stitch pattern just looks like regular shell stitches. To do this stitch you will need to know the basics of crochet. You’ll need to know how to make a chain (ch), a double crochet (dc), as well as a front post double crochet (fpdc) and a back post double crochet (bpdc). The Facebook and YouTube tutorial videos should help you in case you are unfamiliar with these stitches. This is one of those stitch patterns that works up very quickly. And it not a “yarn eater.” You can use one solid color, or use many colors for your project. Plus if you alternate colors every two rows, this can also work nicely to use up all of your scrap yarn. As always, you can use any type of yarn with this crochet shells stitch pattern. You can use a very lightweight thread all the way up to a super bulky weight yarn. The crochet hook you choose to use depends upon the type of yarn you are using. For example, if you are using a worsted weight yarn, a size H (5 mm) crochet hook works nicely.
