Actor Robert Forster earned a well-deserved Oscar nomination for JACKIE BROWN. It came thirty years after his film debut in John Huston’s REFLECTIONS OF A GOLDEN EYE where he co-starred with Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor. In between, Robert had an amazing career of starring roles and unforgettable character parts in films and on television. His journey through life as an actor was filled with joy, adventure and revelations. Robert Forster (July 13, 1941 – Oct 11, 2019) had a special presence on screen and off. It's on display in this exclusive episode of A WORD ON WESTERNS. For over 30 years, Robert and I shared numerous adventures and lots of laughs. He joined me several times on camera for rollicking conversations regarding his life and career for episodes of A WORD ON WESTERNS. When he wasn’t being interviewed for the show, he could be spotted in the audience, joining in the fun and listening to other show biz veterans and friends sharing their own memories as guests on the show. I’ve taken six past AWOW episodes with Robert and combined them with new footage to create an overview of his career. When we started back in late 2013, episodes only ran 4-5 minutes. This new presentation combines interviews done in the Autry Museum’s café in 2014 and, later, in the Wells Fargo Theater, November 2018. This compilation lets him display his love of life and dazzle fans in the audience and viewers with personal stories about selecting material, filming locations, career ups-and-downs and memories of working with Gregory Peck, Guy Madison, Harry Carey, Jr., Quentin Tarantino and others. For John Huston's melodrama REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE, Robert was asked to ride a horse naked. It was his first feature film! What went through his mind? Was he really naked? Robert also shares memories of making director Robert Mulligan's suspenseful western THE STALKING MOON. It was his second feature film. What did he learn? Find out how his career began and learn about the ups and downs of life as a working actor from Robert as only he can recount. These conversations are an amusing look at one man’s journey to the top ranks of in-demand performers. I hope you enjoy this new compilation. I am blessed to have been Robert’s friend and feel we are all lucky to have these recorded conversations to share with everyone his special talent and gift of life. I miss him every day. #western #interview #robertforster #filmhistory #movies #moviestar #oscarnominee #quentintarantino #characteractor #moviestar #host #awordonwesterns #actor #tribute #storytelling #storyteller #funny #comedian #filmdirector #filmdirecting #horses #stuntman #robword #hollywood #tvwestern #tvseries #bestsupportingactor #onlocation
