MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF BEFORE DISASSEMBLING/TESTING FRIDGE! BE SURE TO READ THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IN THE SERVICE MANUAL FIRST. I am not responsible for any damage that occurs while using this video or any information in this description. This video is intended to be for reference only. This video is not intended to be used for a full diagnostic. If you are unqualified or feel uncomfortable at any point, then stop immediately and call a repair tech. I am not a fridge repair man myself. I'm just an engineer who likes to tinker & learn. Please do your own research. This video explains how I diagnosed an r dH error code that I have been dealing with for a while. The r dH error code occurs when the temperature sensor for the defrost circuitry does not hit its target temperature within some amount of time after the defrost heater has been activated. I would notice a lot of ice buildup at the back of the fridge and occasionally a pool of water at the bottom of the fridge. I first tried manually defrosting the fridge, but the frost would just return within a month or two. Then the error code would come back. For reference: Heater part: MEE62705114 Defrost sensor/fuse assembly: 6615JB2005R Control board: EBR78940615 UPDATE I had difficulty entering test mode 3. That is probably because the fridge needs to be cold in order to do so. This is only a guess since I couldn't find anything in the repair manual to help explain why I was having trouble. I decided to go ahead and swap out the control board. Of course that is the most expensive part at around $200. It has been a few years since then, and I am not seeing any more signs of frost buildup.
