What's your definition of a change champion? Webinar replay of 10 Lessons Learned from Innovators in Change Maturity. Transcript A great question around what is meant by change champion. We see the same question around change agent networks or change influencers. And I'm gonna maintain a rose by any other name still smells as sweet. There is not a universal definition about what a change champion is or a change agent network. No defined roles or responsibilities. That's what I think you as change practitioners need to bring into your strategy on your initiatives. If you've identified that geographic distribution is a big challenge for us and you decide that in support of this change initiative and to drive adoption and usage of this initiative, we need a globally distributed network of influencers to localize information when we communicate, maybe that's how you decide you define it, and so that's how you define it. Long way of saying there's not a universal definition, but there is absolutely value when we start to bring the change out to where the change comes to life. And that's why I think we're seeing organizations more increasingly leverage these change agent networks or change champions or influence networks. My charge to you is if you're a practitioner and you're gonna go down this path, make sure that you are clearly articulating the roles and responsibilities of those folks. We did a webinar last April, April of 2019, you can watch the replay at prosci.com/webinars, around roles in change management. We really use this framework called the "I by" role definition. "I, change champion, drive adoption and usage by [fill in the blank]." And that's how we use this notion of an employee-centered role definition using sort of an "I by" statement, right? "I sponsor, drive adoption and usage by actively and visibly participating, building coalitions, and communicating directly." I, people manager, drive adoption and usage by being a communicator, a liaison, an advocate, a resistance manager, and a coach. So we use the "I by" as a common frame to help define the roles in change management based on their relationship to driving adoption and usage. And I think we can use that same frame if we decide a champion network based on the culture of our organization is an important part of our change strategy. #Prosci adkar #Changemanagment
