As a Taphophile, I have visited hundreds of cemeteries all over the world in all different types of weather. Walking around this cemetery in the mist was very eerie. I did not understand the Polish very well; I could only read a small portion of the headstones. The snow scenes of the cemetery were shot by Kaboompics. Roman Catholic parish cemetery and Catacombs in Chodecz, Poland - Chodecz Cmentarz Katolicki I recently visited this Catholic cemetery in Chodecz, Poland, which was founded in 1799 by Jakub Zygmunt Kretkowski. This an interesting cemetery because it has this wonderful, colourful, arcaded porch that protects the catacombs from the elements. Although the moulded stations of the crosses are a little worn in places, they give the site a true Roman Catholic Feel. As you can see, the catacombs are profiled with stepped cornices under the eaves, so there is no expense-spared approach. The catacombs are on three levels, with the third floor intended for children. There are 18 burial niches in the row, so the building has a total of 54 burial places. The graves are old and interesting, with photographs of loved ones etched into the headstones or a simple laminated photo stuck to the headstone.
