How to PREP martin GOURDS for BEGINNERS!

The purple martins are coming! It's time to clean the gourds from the winter storage. Last year I washed the gourds, this year I will just dry brush them. I add a teaspoon of Seven dust in the bottom of each gourd and then just a small abount of clean pinestraw. (the martins will add leaves and straw from around the area to make their shallow nest) Afterwards, I assemble them in numerical order, slide them on the rack, and secure with the included pins. Then up they go! I also add netting around the baffle just as an extra layer of snake security! One addition from last year was a mirror ball that I purchased from Hobby Lobby for around $35.
