Fort Pickens is one of three coastal forts that were constructed to guard the entrance to Pensacola Bay. It's located on the Western end of Santa Rosa Island near Pensacola Beach, and is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The State Park has plenty to offer including camping, fishing, beaches and swimming. The fort is loaded with history from the Civil War, and all the way to WW2. There are several other batteries that were constructed in the early 19 hundreds around the fort as weapons and attack from air become a threat. Come along for the beautiful ride along the white sandy beaches that take you to the location of the fort, and explore with us. This is a great place to see and learn about!
