We are now in the 21st Century. However, in the 20th Century, there were two notable fictional television shows: Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Each sought to extrapolate from 20th-century science to the possible science of the 23rd and 24th Centuries, respectively. In this presentation, Natalie Foster discusses how well they did this and how the few years between the production of each series influenced the science portrayed in a fictional future two to three centuries from now.
