By Kasabula Muchimba The International Drug Company in Kabwe, Central Province, has invested 10 million US dollars into expansion projects at its facility. The company, which currently supplies intravenous fluids to hospitals across the country, plans to expand its production line to include antibiotics and other essential medicines. The expansion, expected to be completed by the end of 2026, will position Zambia as an exporter of medicines within the SADC region. Company General Manager Altaf Patel disclosed that once the expansion works are complete, about 1,000 permanent jobs will be created. This was revealed during a visit by Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet in charge of Finance and Economic Development, Siazongo Siakalenge. Mr. Siakalenge said the expansion aligns with government’s agenda to grow the domestic pharmaceutical industry, adding that strengthening local production will help reduce dependence on imported pharmaceutical products. #PharmaceuticalIndustry #ZambiaDevelopment #HealthcareInnovation #JobCreation #Kabwe
