This heartwarming collaboration between Youssef Jrifi & Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra took off from a mutual love and passion for the music of none other than Abdel Halim Hafez.This well-known singer, Abdel Halim Hafez, is also called 'el-Andaleeb el-Asmar (Arabic: العندليب الأسمر‎), meaning The Dark-Skinned Nightingale. He is one of the greatest singers ever from the Arab world. He has marked the lives of millions of people across the world in so many ways. We chose this song because of its special place in the hearts of the public and because we simply adore it . The composer of this song was the legendary Mohamed Abdel Wahab. He composed over 1300 songs and is considered to be the godfather of Arabic music. The combination of these two giants delivered unforgettable work which we will cherish forever. The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra considers it a huge responsibility and honor to present these icons and their legacy. It is part of the AAO-tutorials program and aimed at introducing viewers and musicians to repertoire that stretches from Granada to Baghdad. Many thanks to the Amsterdams Fonds Voor De Kunst.
