Light and Legacy in the Footsteps of the Beloved ﷺ with Sidi AbuBilaal Yakub ------------------------------------------- Session 19: The Schemes of the Mustahzi’ūn and Dawah at the time of the Great Pilgrimage The Mustahzi'ūn devised many schemes to block the spread of Islam. They stationed men at the four entrances of Makkah to intercept pilgrims, poisoning their hearts with lies about the Prophet ﷺ and distorting his message. Nadr ibn al-Ḥārith and his companions tried to drown out the Qur’an by distracting people with music, dance, and theatrical tales, hoping to pull attention away from the divine words the Prophet ﷺ recited. Yet hearts chosen by Allah still found the truth despite the noise and slander. Abū Dharr al-Ghifārī and al-Tufayl ibn ʿAmr al-Dawsī, both respected leaders of their tribes accepted Islam. Hostility escalated when Abū Lahab confronted and insulted the Prophet ﷺ near the Kaʿbah. News of this reached Ḥamzah ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, whose protective anger flared; he struck Abū Lahab and proclaimed his acceptance of Islam openly-an event that strengthened the Muslim community. The Prophet ﷺ continued striving to reach the stubborn leaders of Quraysh, hoping they would soften. In one such moment, he unintentionally turned away from ʿAbdullāh ibn Umm Maktūm, a blind man eager for guidance. Allah gently corrected His Prophet in the opening verses of Sūrat ʿAbasa, revealing that true worth is not in worldly status but in humility, sincerity, and a heart open to faith. ------------------------------------------- Q&A Session
