Communication systems are critical to NATO troops on the ground, ensuring vital information can be shared with the Alliance 24/7. The Communications and Information Systems Sustainment Support Centre (CSSC) is the central warehouse for IT equipment within NATO. Part of the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency), the CSSC manages more than 350,000 devices, from mobile phones to Transportable Satellite Ground Terminals. " Wherever, whenever NATO needs IT equipment, we deliver. Without the proper IT equipment, our troops wouldn't be able to communicate", said Lieutenant Commander Federico Giuffree, Asset Management and Supply Branch Commander at the CSSC. The CSSC is not only responsible for delivering the equipment, but also for maintaining and repairing it. "We have to guarantee that the system is every day working in the field", said Luigi Perin, Satellite Communications Technician at the CSSC. From their central facilities in Brunssum, Netherlands, and three more support points at Bydgoszcz, Poland, Naples, Italy and Wesel, Germany, CSSC staff manage, procure, maintain and repair all communication and information systems for NATO.
