It's a best of 3 on wizard's isle's northern hill. The most notable other competitors in this tournament were the amazing Chijo (playing ranger) and Nihal (playing elementalist), both of which were beaten by Jabor's Zurrie style dervish. Chijo's bow ranger was full countered including stance removal, whereas Nihal allegedly rage quit during his first match, forfeiting the subsequent ones. An issue with this ruleset is being locked into the same profession for the entire tournament. This heavily favours two professions: Elementalists, the strongest 1v1 caster profession, and dervishes, ridiculously overperforming 1v1 beasts that have a set of 3-4 builds which each can counter almost everything any other profession has to offer, namely: Zurrie (vs. most builds excluding hexover), Berzerker Man (vs. most physicals and casters, including hex builds), Sad Build (100% counter against all casters and many physicals) and Dwayna Dervish (vs. any hex build and most builds without long-term sustain). Instead of taking one of these two professions, I decided to run the often ridiculed ritualist. It's got all the style and enough potential. I also like my ritualist's joke name. ►Tournament rules, as posted by the organizer; notes added by me. "The time for battle is upon us once again. Sharpen your blades, ready your wands, call forth your spirits and brandish your scythes; signups for the 1v1 Tournaments are live! @everyone IMPORTANT: The Tournament will take place over multiple weeks. This is to allow accommodation for everyone’s schedule. When signups end, I will form the brackets via a random generator. I will contact each opponent to set up a time that works for each person and the judge that will be overseeing the match. To sign up, submit a character name along with their profession. This is very important, as you will be locked into that character and their respective class. You can change your secondary at any time to accommodate to your upcoming opponent. Each participant will only be informed of the primary of their upcoming opponent, no other primary professions will be disclosed. (Rudi Note: Due to starting in the same guild hall, participants usually knew their opponent's secondary profession before entering a match.) Your objective is to kill your opponent. Each match up will consist of a set for best 2 out of 3 fights. Rounds will be timed at 5 minutes, if nobody dies before time is up the round is a draw. (Rudi Note: This rule could be abused. Win the first match, then run a tank/full healer in the next two. Or, as Mize'd do it: Play a build sufficiently defensive to survive five minutes if you can't win, forcing a draw.) Should two opponents draw the first round, and each win one of the following two; the winner will be determined based on who won their respective round faster. If a bye be necessary at any point this same method will be used. (Rudi Note: There was one bye in the tournament and I was unlucky enough to get it.) Ecto will be awarded to the winners of each match up, with the amount increasing the closer you get to the Finals. Should you defeat every opponent before you, you will earn the right to challenge the current champion. This will be for the ultimate prize: a full Conset Stack, along with 5 armbraces. You will also earn the crown, to which you will keep until the throne is challenged once again. Signups will close on Tuesday, December 14th. Make sure to submit your profession and character name before then to enter! Message me with your information. Our reigning champion, Vaesari Zathoros sits upon his throne, daring those willing to climb the ladder and attempt to steal his crown."
